Explore the amazing world of animals with this hands on, introductory unit for ages 7-12 years. Children read, research and create a lapbook to learn about animal features, behaviours, habitats, diets and classification.
How it works:
Part 1: Children use the information booklet and other personal resources (books, websites) to answer guided questions and build their lapbook based on the Animal Kingdom.
Part 2: Children choose their own animal, research it and fill in a personalised lapbook with some guided questions. They are free to decorate, add extra information and make it uniquely their own. Extra templates are included.
Bonus Animal Research Questions: The research questions were created to help children understand their own research process and learn about an animal in a way that suits their learning style, whether that’s through drawings, posters, models, a lapbook, written reports, or any other method they prefer.
Inside the information booklet you will find:
- Kingdoms of Living Things
- What is Kingdom Animalia & Basic Needs of Animals
- Animals in Ecosystems and Our Lives
- What is Classification? & Exploring Vertebrates & Invertebrates
- Animal Classes
- Animal Features
- Animal Life Cycles
- Animal Habitats & Biomes
- Animal Diets
- Animal Classification & Chart
By the end of the unit, children will have a complete, interactive Animal Kingdom lapbook.
Note: This unit involves a lot of printing and cutting, so please be patient :)
