DIY 7R's of Sustainability Book

DIY 7R's of Sustainability Book

We're approaching our last few Qur'an Montessori Prompts for Ramadan and today's ayah is...

I made a book to help my son's understand the 7R's of Sustainability and how our actions impact Earth.

I felt the need to add 'REFLECT' in there because Allah has entrusted this planet to us and we need to ensure that Earth's resources are used in a sustainable manner for our future generations. How else will will nurture our environment if we don't reflect?

With small changes  in our home we can inspire others to do the same and inshaAllah this will bring us closer to Him.

I wanted to make this book durable and something we can always look back on so i made it using thick cardstock. I highly recommend you do too. I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did :)

What you need:

  • x3 Thick Cardstock
  • Exacto Knife (or Scissors)
  • Ruler
  • Gluestick
  • Inserts (scroll to the end to purchase or make your own)
  • Something to decorate front cover (I used felt)

 How to:

1. Measure the center of the A4 sheet then cut into 2 narrow strips.

2. Fold in half. You've now made one 'folder'. You'll need to make 5 folders.

3. Cut 7 tags like below. (If you've purchased the file I've added some in there.)

4. Glue one tag on the second page and another on the last page of each folder. Keep them spaced apart like below.

Continue doing this to all folders until all tags are glued. Remember to keep tags spaced apart.

5. Spread glue over the last page of folder #1. Place directly on top of the first page of folder #2. I like putting heavy books on top so they hold together well. Continue doing this until all folders are glued together.

6.  Purchase the inserts (scroll below) and glue inside or create your own.

7. Decorate the cover and add the 7R's (in order).

I also highly recommend this book below.
